Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah is now the highest-paid player in the Premier League after agreeing to a new contract that will keep him at Anfield until 2025.
The club confirmed the long-anticipated extension after months of speculation over Salah’s future, ending concerns that the Egyptian star could leave on a free transfer. Under the new deal, Salah is reported to earn around £400,000 per week, making him the best-paid player not only in Liverpool’s history but across England’s top flight.
The agreement comes at a critical moment for manager Jürgen Klopp, who has already seen key forward Sadio Mané depart for Bayern Munich. Retaining Salah, widely regarded as the focal point of Liverpool’s attack, offers stability as the club looks to remain competitive domestically and in Europe.
Salah’s new salary places him ahead of several of the league’s biggest names. Cristiano Ronaldo and Kevin De Bruyne are both reported to earn about £385,000 per week, while Erling Haaland is close behind on roughly £375,000 following his move to Manchester City. David de Gea, Manchester United’s long-serving goalkeeper, is also believed to be on a similar figure.
At 30, Salah is now ranked as the fourth highest-paid footballer globally. However, his earnings still fall well short of the sport’s top salaries, all of which belong to players at Paris Saint-Germain, the Qatari-backed side that dominates football’s global wage rankings.
For Liverpool, the deal represents a clear statement of intent: securing their most influential player at peak value, even as the financial landscape of elite football continues to escalate.
